These new bird's mouth router bits differ from ordinary chamfer router bits in two important ways; Firstly, making boxes with these Bird Mouth router bits is fast and accurate because it's only necessary to machine one side of your workpiece to form a perfect fitting joint. Secondly, since an actual notch is cut into one side of your wood the resulting joint has a larger surface area for optimal glue strength. For six or eight sided boxes rout your wood face-up, for twelve or sixteen sided boxes route with your wood face down.
